Green Orchid Wedding Cake at Runnymede-on-Thames
A delightful synthesis of hearts, cymbidiums and diamantes was the bride’s chosen theme for this three-tiered handmade wedding cake with orchids.
The three heart shaped wedding cakes, replicated in tapered ascending order and mounted on a S stand, were crafted in rich fruit, lemon and chocolate. The pastel shades, a bespoke design for the bride of a Garrett frill, denoted soft-hued understatement in a delicate co-ordination of green and white around the edge of the wedding cake.
Green cymbidium orchids perfectly matched the bridesmaid’s dress of pistachio; and the single Cymbidium on each tier, with diamante and Gypsophila replicated the detail of the bride’s bouquet. More subtly, the composition reflected the overall theme of the wedding with its visual references.
To complete the ensemble, 110 plain madeira orchid cupcakes were prepared and, to remain faithful to the same theme, were trimmed with a single orchid, three hearts and a diamante on each.
The Wedding breakfast and reception was held at the Runnymede on Thames Hotel & Spa: www.runnymedehotel.com and it was pleasure to team up in the preparation of the room with Vicky from Seventh Heaven: www.seventh-heaven-events.co.uk
Top Tip for the Week: Brides on a Budget:
Consider carefully what you would like on the inside – choosing sponge instead of fruit will make a difference to cost. You should also consider the demographic of your guests, ie the preferences older guests may have as opposed to younger tastes. Some people LOVE fruit cake others hate it. Timeless Cakes offers two fruit cake recipes: traditional rich fruit or ginger and apricot light fruit cake – the latter being a unique and delicious Timeless Cakes secret recipe.
